Calicut Medical School at Mananchira;1917

Many of us CMCians are led to believe that Calicut Medical College, was the second medical College in Kerala (1956) after the Trivandrum medical college in 1950.The first medical school was started in 1917 in Calicut (then Madras presidency) by the Britishers. Many of the veteran doctors in North Kerala were the products of the Calicut Medical School at Mananchira. Dr. Balakrishan, Capt AB Das,the doctor fathers of late Prof MG Sahadevan and the historian Dr. MGS Narayanan were the notable among those.It is not very clear as to where it was located.One view is that it was housed in the building in which the present Teacher's Training College (Previous law College) is situated at Mananchira. Another view is that it was housed in the erstwhile RDO building near the office of the Police Commisioner. Where ever it was situated, the term Mananchira Medcial School seems to be apt, as both the buildings face the Mananchira pond. Calicut Historians, please give your comments
